70 Party, Taxes, Car and more…

Because of my 70th Birthday 2 days before we celebrated it with a family dinner on Sunday 1 March. This was done at the house of aunt Tjue, so we bought all the drinks from her shop. The nieces Mudmie & Mudmai, daughters of Warunee, gave me a beautiful self-made Harry Potter style drawing. I now see it as my sorting hat moment where I was chosen in Ravenclaw House. At the dinner there was “meat” from a cow placenta for the Thai family but for others the was a Thai BBQ and as an alternative charcoal cooked shrimps.

March is the time to do Taxes in the Netherlands and in Thailand. The Dutch Taxes were, like every year simple, I’ve already paid taxes over my government pension (AOW) and I don’t have to pay taxes over my 2 private pensions. For Thai taxes I had again 3 prepared calculations, because the new rules were not clear. At the Revenue Office in Sawang Daen Din they accepted my first calculation, which I did the same as the year before, and after checking I had to pay 1.437 THB (about EUR 38) over 2025.

On our way back from the marriage last month a truck was spraying tar to the road and our car got some of it on the none driver side. So, Monday 2 March Siripron and I went to a shop for a special car cleaning. About two hours later the car was almost as clean as when we bought the car. They also tried to clean the limescale spots that were there after a few times washing (not drying) the car ourself. Later we could clean most of the remaining spots with a limescale cleaning spray that we bought. On 19 March I went for car maintenance to Honda, we needed a new battery and they spotted a nail in a front wheel. The next day we went to a tire shop for the removal of the nail and they fixed the tire.

Other things that happened:
– On 3 March was Makha Bucha Day, Siripron had the off.
– We had a visit of an Elephant, it came with people from Surin.
– It was time again to clean our septic tanks.
– On 17 March I went to my bank to update my data for (USA) taxes purposes.
– We bought already new Songkran shirts.
– For a virtual challenge of the Moon I’ve build the Lego Apollo 11 Lunar Module.
– I went to Kham Ta Kla for lunch and shopping.
– Doing the grass was the second time more getting the fallen-off leaves.
– For our garden we had to cut some bushes & trees, our palm tree died.
– In March we had some crazy days of getting petrol in Thailand.
