Songkran and more…

April 11 until 15 were the days of Songkran. This is the New Year for Buddhism (and Hindu) and also the old Thai starting of the New Year. It is also called the water throwing festival because it has something to do with blessing by water and they try to get everybody soaking wet. Throwing water with small buckets to people on motorbikes, to people at the back of a pick-up and sometimes people who are walking. For us this year mainly Monday April 13 was special because we did the blessing at the community house of Moo.9 of Ban Thon. There were the oldest people of the village sitting and we had to go around and give and receive water, of course we wear special Songkran shirts (see photo). Because of family circumstances we had to skip the rest of Songkran celebrations. I will blog about that later.

April 16th I bought my laptop, a Lenovo G40, the same model we buy for Siripron last September. So this took and will take lots of my time coming week and so. Last week was also the week of seeing the DvD’s and VCD of The Hobbit 1, 2 and 3 (the last one only in Thai). And it was realy realy realy warm, today Monday April 20 it is around 41 C and it feels like 44 C.
