Like normal many Thai went back to their home village for New Year. For our family the son of Arun & Teil (Tanakrit & Family), the daughters of Den & Nong (May & Khai Mook) and the son of Wannapha & Wutti (Domon) came “home”. Also a niece & nephew from Udon Thani came to celebrate New Years Eve with the family. Preauw & Both visited us a few days and they gave Papa and us some presents but Benz is still in Taiwan. Like every year we gave our neighbors and family Dutch stroopwafels as a New Year gift.
Because it’s also winter in Thailand the morning temperatures were sometimes low, between the 9 and 15 degrees Celsius. In the afternoon it was between 25 and 32 and we had 2 days with some rain. We are happy to have a warm air blower in the bathroom that we use with our evening shower. The colder temperatures also made our garden hose really strong and because of leaking I had to change one for a new hose.
For the virtual challenges I received in January some medals. This month I virtual walked & biked in Australia (the Great Barrier Reef – short version), Canada (the West Coast Trail), Iceland (the Ring Road), Madagascar (RN7 road), Romania (Dracula’s Road) and a Thai “Save the (Sea) Turtles” run challenge. I started the year challenge (Conqueror 2023) and I finished a 2023 short run challenge, Puerto Rico, Romania (Transylvania) and USA (Yosemite).
For the house we bought a medicine cabinet for in our bathroom. I “fixed” one of our warm air blowing fake fire places that Papa was using on colder days and was standing in the house of Warunee. We ordered & received some new bed linnen from IKEA Bangkok and our front door lock was broken but fast replaced by Tuy who is a colleague of Siripron. A cat and/or Chok Dee (our Bangkaew dog) broke a water pipe outside and Arun, a brother of Siripron came to fix it and he replaced a leaking water tap.
Other things that happened:
– Preauw & Both slept a few days in their room in our house.
– The Papa of Siripron had a check-up in the hospital and he received his pills.
– I went to Kham Ta Kla for lunch and our monthly order of sausages & bread.
– On the Birthday of Preauw she & Both gave packages to homeless people.
– I started preparing my Thai Tax return papers for 2022.
